Heat Safety: Protecting Yourself on the Hottest Days

Heat Safety: A Simple Reminder on Hot Days

When temperatures climb, it is easy to underestimate how quickly heat can take a toll. Whether you are working on a jobsite, spending the day outdoors, or even tackling projects around the house, a little extra attention can go a long way.

Heat-related illness can happen faster than many people realize, especially during the first few days of working in hot conditions. That is why it is important to stay ahead of it.

Small Steps Make a Big Difference

Drink water before you feel thirsty. Take breaks in the shade or somewhere cool when you can. Wear lightweight, breathable clothing when possible. And most importantly, keep an eye on the people around you.

Sometimes the first signs of heat illness are easier for someone else to notice. Dizziness, headache, nausea, heavy sweating, confusion, or unusual behavior can all be warning signs that someone needs help.

Know When to Act

If you think someone may be experiencing heat stroke, do not wait. Call 911 immediately, begin cooling them down with water or ice, and stay with them until help arrives.

Heat safety is not complicated, but it does require awareness. On days like this, checking in on a coworker, taking an extra water break, or stepping into the shade can make a real difference.

Safety Is a Shared Responsibility

At Camosy Construction, safety is not something we talk about only on the jobsite. It is a mindset we carry with us every day. That means taking care of ourselves, looking out for one another, and speaking up when something does not feel right.

As we move through the hottest days of the year, let’s stay alert, stay hydrated, and keep each other safe.
