Committed To Quality Work

Remembering Raymond Camosy: A Legacy of Leadership and Service in Construction

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Raymond Camosy, the third president of Camosy Construction and a guiding force behind the company’s growth and values. Raymond dedicated his life to the construction industry, shaping not only the physical landscape of the Midwest but also the culture and legacy of our family business.

Born in 1950, Raymond graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1972. Just two years later, he was called home from graduate studies to assist in managing the company. That decision marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to Camosy Construction and the many communities we serve.

In 1986, Raymond was named the third president of Camosy Construction. During his 21-year tenure, the company experienced transformative growth and became known for delivering complex public and institutional projects throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. Raymond led with integrity, professionalism, and a deep belief in doing things the right way, values that remain foundational to our work today.

Under Raymond’s leadership, Camosy completed some of its most significant and high-profile projects. He implemented many of the professional systems and management practices still in use today and played a central role in building the leadership team that continues to guide the company. Between 1988 and 1993, Camosy was recognized five times on Engineering News-Record’s list of the nation’s Top 400 Contractors.

More than just business growth, Raymond helped Camosy transition from a traditional low-bid general contractor to a full-service construction management firm. This shift allowed us to better serve the evolving needs of clients in the public sector and position ourselves as a trusted partner from planning through completion.

Alongside his father Ray and his brother John, Raymond also made a defining decision for the company’s future. Rather than expand beyond recognition, they chose to keep Camosy a mid-sized, family-run construction company. They believed that this size allowed us to offer the highest level of personal service, care, and attention to our clients, values instilled by Raymond’s leadership and still honored today.

In 2007, Raymond passed the role of president to his brother John, but he remained an active part of the company as Chairman. He also dedicated time to various industry groups, civic organizations, and nonprofit boards in the region, continuing to serve the same communities where Camosy Construction has built schools, fire stations, municipal buildings, and more.

Raymond’s influence went far beyond boardrooms and building sites. He mentored countless employees, led by example, and was deeply respected by clients, trade partners, and colleagues alike. His humility, sharp insight, and steady presence helped guide the company through decades of change while never losing sight of the values his grandfather established when Camosy was founded.

Raymond Camosy leaves behind a powerful legacy, one built on hard work, honesty, and a commitment to building lasting relationships as well as structures. His leadership shaped the company we are today, and his memory will remain a lasting part of Camosy Construction.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Raymond’s wife, Maryann, his children, Charlie, Bob, and Katie, his beloved grandchildren, and his siblings. We also send our sympathies to the many contractors, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and colleagues who worked with Ray over the years, as well as the communities he helped build and support. We will honor his memory by continuing the work he loved and the values he lived every day.

You can find Raymond’s officially obituatry in the Kenosha News here that was written by his wife and kids.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the Camosy Family Scholarship Fund at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Please include “Camosy Scholarship” in the memo or designation.
