Description

This project has 42,000 square feet of new construction and 3,000 square feet of renovation and provides a new Performing Arts Center along with renovations of portions of the existing building as well as associated site improvements including an improved stormwater detention facility and parking.

The design provides a 750-seat theater space designed to accommodate theatrical and stage performances of all types. Theater support spaces include a “Prop Shop”, ‘Green’ Room, sound and lighting booth, dressing rooms, and prep areas along with other typical ancillary spaces. A new large Lobby space is created to allow guests to gather in large groups prior to and after events and is arranged in a way to also support activities in the adjacent existing fieldhouse.

The new lobby includes Ticket Booth, Concessions, Spirit Wear Shop, and restrooms as well as extensive storage to support overall operations. The design also provides toilet facilities accessible directly from the exterior and located in a manner to serve the existing outdoor athletic fields. While the use of LED light fixtures has become more common recently, LED light fixtures for theatrical applications is still not that common. This project went the extra step of utilizing LED lighting for the theatrical lighting in addition to all the usual fixtures. Camosy worked closely with District representatives to plan the execution of the work to minimize disruption to everyday school activities.

Services Provided

Following a competitive Quality Based Selection process, Camosy was selected as the preferred CM for ZBTHS Dist. 126’s New Performing Arts Center. Camosy’s Preconstruction Phase services included: Budgeting, Estimating, Value Engineering, Constructability Reviews, Bidding and Bid Review, and contracting of all subcontractors. Camosy Construction Phase services included all Project Management and full-time on-site Field-Supervision throughout the Construction Phase. Based on the successful completion of the PAC project, the district hired Camosy as their CM for a new $10,000,000 Natatorium and Competition Pool which was complete in September 2021.
