Description
The existing CRC (Community Recreation Center) was originally constructed in 1992, with the Arctic Splash Natatorium and Fitness Center Addition being constructed in 1999. The Park District selected FGM Architects to review and update a previous Space Needs Analysis and then prepare a conceptual design that reflects the recommendations of the completed facility analysis. The final design includes approximately 48,000 SF of additions, complemented by renovations to 77,000 SF of the existing building spaces. The addition portion of the design includes a dedicated Preschool area, a larger fitness center, a new gymnasium, group exercise rooms, new fitness locker rooms, a new stair tower, and associated support, service, and corridor spaces.
Site improvements associated with the work include reconfiguring the existing parking lot immediately south of the existing building to provide a dedicated Drop-off and Pick-up arrangement for the Pre-School. Camosy has been WPD Construction Manager for over 10 years and has managed all their major projects.
