Project Description
This project consists of a new 24,000 square foot building which houses the operations of the Dane County Medical Examiner (ME). The building is made up of a 17,000 sf ME suite and a 7,000 sf drive through garage including an ambulance bay. The building construction is predominantly structural steel with a metal stud and brick veneer envelope, with the garage being a pre-engineered metal building with burnished block and metal panel veneer. Camosy’s contract provides a fully furnished package which has many sustainable features including multiple all of the lab casework and morgue equipment. Although not submitted for LEED certification, this project includes renewable energy sources. The mechanical system is supplemented by waste heat generated by the adjacent landfill and then pumped to the Medical Examiner Building. The electrical service is supplemented by a 70kw solar panel system that is housed on the roof, and another 140kw from a system housed on a remote building roof.
