Description
Camosy Construction was selected as Construction Manager as Agent for this project in December 2009. The work includes a 38,000 SF addition to the existing Civic Center that serves as the new Police Station, and renovations to the existing Civic Center to repurpose former Police areas and modernize the remainder of the building for city administrative operations. The project’s biggest challenge was keeping the Civic Center and other municipal buildings on campus fully operational during construction on a tight site. To ensure this occurred, Camosy included a Phasing Plan in the bid documents. The project includes a 25 yard firing range with range ready room, range master control room, prop storage, armory and support spaces. The new facility also has complete booking and holding areas, with interview rooms, a 2-bay sally port, a mass arrest area, 2 juvenile spaces and cells, 3 detention rooms. A new lobby is created providing public waiting and access to records. There are new command staff offices and dedicated spaces for investigations, sergeants report writing, roll call, classroom training, staff locker rooms, and a new fitness training area.
The project was completed in Winter 2012, with Camosy’s contract having been expanded during construction to include an additional $800,000 of renovation work to the existing Civic Center.
