Description
Phase I- Callahan Family Branch 2004
This state-of-the-art facility included a 2-court gymnasium; a fitness center (cardiovascular, strength circuit, and free weights); a 4,610 square foot childcare facility; a 28-foot vertical rock climbing wall; men’s, women’s, and family locker rooms, including steam, saunas, and whirlpools; a Wellness Center; a four-lane, 8-lap per-mile elevated running track; an aerobics studio; and video golf simulator. A special feature is the “Miracle Baseball Field,” specifically designed to allow challenged children to play baseball.
Phase II – Kueny Aquatic Center Addition 2009
This 29,200 square foot addition to the YMCA’s Callahan Family Branch expanded the amenities for the YMCA’s users by providing a wheelchair-accessible “zero-depth access” warm water therapy pool and an eight-lane, twenty-five-yard competition pool with a diving well. Support features for the Aquatic Center include men’s and women’s locker rooms, mechanical spaces, and offices for the Aquatics staff. A multi-purpose room and two program spaces were included at the second-floor level, providing much-needed space for various activities. This project also included the creation of new general office spaces in a portion of the existing building.
