Description

Oak Ridge Park spans over a total of eighteen acres and the design concept of the park includes a park shelter building with public restrooms, a covered picnic area and support spaces for park and splash pad operations. The site development provides a 9 hole disc golf course, spray park/splash pad, a championship soccer field, an open field activity space, paved walking paths, detention and retention ponds, archaeological dig site (sand play area), and an area for an outside ice rink. The Disc Golf Course begins in a heavily wooded area buffered with woodchips for safety and extends to a green, grassy, open area. Placing the course partially in the woods provides the players an interesting challenge. The highest traffic amenity at the park during the summer months is the Spray Park and Splash Pad. This area is located on the south side of the Park Shelter Building viewing area and enclosed by fencing. With children at play, the concrete is smooth but slip resistant with the surrounding area bedded with grass. The regulation sized soccer field and activity field are located south the Spray Park/Splash Pad. If you follow the paved walking/biking paths you will find the hidden treasure of Oak Ridge Park, the Archaeological Dig Site and Sand Play Area. In this educational play area, you will come across look-a-like dinosaur bones. Along with the sand box, you will also find several picnic tables and a bench for the parents to watch their children play. Similar to Disc Golf, the Archaeological Dig Site was put in the middle of an oak grove which will cast shade over the entire site; a good place to take a break from the sun!
