Description

Following a Quality Based Selection process, Camosy was selected to provide complete Construction Management as Constructor services from Preconstruction through Construction and completion of the Warranty and beyond.

The Village of Montgomery Public Works Department was operating in a building shared with the Water Treatment Plant at 891 Knell Road in Montgomery. The existing facility was undersized and inadequate for the combined operations. Amenities for Public Works staff such as a lunchroom, locker rooms, toilet and shower facilities, conference space, and other spaces typically included in a modern public works facility were either minimal or nonexistent. Vehicle storage was very tight, resulting in vehicles being parked front to back and often requiring moving multiple vehicles to allow access to vehicles that are boxed in.

The new facility is approximately 74,000 gross square feet including mezzanine levels. The facility includes a Vehicle Storage garage for 51 vehicles with a freight service elevator serving the included mezzanine level, a wash bay space, Maintenance Bay area with ‘heavy’ and ‘light’ duty service bays, also with mezzanine space. There are separate dedicated shop areas for Water & Sewer, Building Maintenance, Forestry, and Streets Departments, each with a dedicated mezzanine space. A Wellness Area, Multi-Purpose Room, Locker Rooms, and Administrative and Management Offices space with a dedicated public entry lobby and waiting area along with the typical ancillary mechanical spaces, corridors, and storage areas complete the facility.

Site preparation began in December 2021 and construction was completed on schedule in August of 2023. This project was recently awarded the American Public Works Association Chicago Chapter Project of the Year Award in the 5-25 Million Category 2024.
