Project Description
The Sherman Elementary School for the Eau Claire Area School District is an addition and renovation project totaling approximately 88,000 gross square feet. The project includes the demolition of an existing 18,000 square foot portion of the building as well as a 49,000 square foot two story addition and 28,000 square feet of renovations. This facility serves approximately 600 students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 5. Construction will consist of load bearing masonry supporting a steel roof structure. The floors are concrete slab on grade and precast concrete with topping on the second floor level. Site work includes new parking, drives and utilities. The HVAC system includes air handling units with a roof top chiller.
The entire building project includes a fire protection system, plumbing, new electrical service, electrical distribution equipment replacements; light fixture replacements, new fire alarm system, new intercom and clock systems, extensive revisions to structured cabling systems, and modifications to existing security and access control systems. This project has earned a certified LEED rating using the 2009 LEED Edition, Schools New Construction and Major Renovations.
