Project Description
Wheeling Park District – Chevy Chase Country Club Renovation
Phase I
Phase II
Description
Originally constructed in 1927, the classic, Tudor-style clubhouse harkens back to a genteel and elegant era when making guests feel welcome was an art form.
Phase I of this renovation and addition project provided improvements to continue the respected heritage of the facility while including updates that provide all the modern amenities that discriminating guests expect. The project expanded the existing Devonshire Banquet room in order to increase seating to 250 persons. The Devonshire Room interiors were completely updated, along with the Pre-Function space that serves the room itself. Taking advantage of the magnificent views to the golf course, the new configuration also provides an intimate patio area for informal gathering. A new service bar is configured for access from both the Devonshire Room itself as well as from the Pre-Function space. The restroom facilities are also completely renovated with new tile, fixtures and finishes throughout. Natural wood trim accents highlight both walls and ceilings and bring warmth to all spaces while an overall neutral color scheme allows each space to be customized to the tastes of any guest.
The existing Gable Room, a large vaulted wood beam framed space, was also renovated with a new bar, additional windows overlooking the golf course, and new finishes throughout.
The existing Golf Pro shop was reconfigured creating new office spaces for the administrative staff. This 3.7 million dollar investment will keep Chevy Chase Country Club one of the premier facilities in the area and the preferred choice of discriminating users for many years to come.
Phase II of Chevy Chase Country Club took place between December 2015 and March 2016. This work renovated the Grand Ballroom, Grand Ballroom Bar, the “Abbey” prefunction space and the associated restrooms and support spaces. The existing original maple floor in the Ballroom was sanded and completely refinished to its original magnificent appearance.
All new ceilings and lighting were installed throughout and existing wood trim was refinished. The existing bar space was also completely renovated with updated finishes and new flooring. Existing restrooms were completely redone with all new finishes and fixtures throughout. The work was completed ahead of schedule and the Ballroom held its first wedding in April to rave reviews.
Each of these projects was completed while maintaining the balance of the facility fully operational.
