Description
During the time ZBTHS’s new Natatorium was in construction with Camosy as the CM as Constructor, the repurposing of the old Natatorium space into a new “Career and Technical Program’s Center” was in Preconstruction and Design. Camosy worked closely with the design team and ZBTHS staff to work out not only the design, but also how to execute the construction while keeping the rest of the adjacent school areas fully operational during the construction period. To address long-lead and supply chain issues, Early Bid Packages were planned for Precast Concrete floor planks and structural steel. The renovation converted the original pool space by filling in the existing pool vessel and creating a new 2-story, multi-classroom component inside the existing natatorium walls. The design includes a wood shop, metals shop, power mechanics/electronics shop, printing shop, home economics, TV production and photography, architecture and engineering, and a fabrication lab, along with three general classroom spaces, dedicated instructional spaces, faculty offices, conference rooms, and other support spaces. The work was completed in October 2022.
