Description
Following a competitive Quality Based Selection (QBS) process, the City of Zion selected Camosy Construction to be their Construction Manager for their proposed new Fire Station project to replace the aging existing Fire Station #2.
The City of Zion is another Camosy client that took the approach to hire the Construction Manager prior to selecting the architect for this project. The City took this approach because they felt the Construction Manager would be a valuable partner to assist the City through the A/E selection process. Camosy’s extensive and current fire station experience combined with having a licensed architect with more than forty years’ experience on staff made Camosy the preferred choice to provide complete CM services and to assist the City in the A/E selection process.
Camosy worked with the City through the entire A/E selection process including preparing the Request For Qualification for architectural services, developing the qualifications parameters, preparing a scoring matrix, and planning the interviews of shortlisted firms.
The City selected FGM Architects and is now finazling property acquisition and the Design and Preconstrction Phase recently started.
Preliminary Scope of the project calls for a building of approximately 13,500 square feet with a two (2) to three (3) bay double-deep apparatus space with mezzanine level storage area, complete living quarters for six (6) to eight (8) full-time firefighters, a fitness/wellness area, a combination hose drying and training tower, and sufficient space for miscellaneous equipment and supply storage, office areas, and a training space for 25 to 30 persons and the usual support and ancillary spaces and site development. The new station will be built in the general vicinity of the existing station with existing Station #2 remaining fully operational during construction of the new station. Upon completion of the new station, existing station operations will be relocated to the new station. The disposition of the existing station and property has not yet been determined.
Services Provided
